My musical background: an adolescent metalhead whose taste has gradually mutated into a love of repetition after a combination of dance music (which I understand people now call EDM), dub, minimalism, and what I started calling psychedelic jazz etc. I think I can probably pull examples from most genres of stuff I love now, but my favourite stuff is probably best described as trance inducing. From a playing perspective, I taught myself to play guitar from the age of 17 onwards, picked up a bass when I started home recording in 1994 and can do a very basic turn on keyboards and drums too. I had a turn in the university choir singing Mozart’s Requiem and some Bruckner in 1997 which was fun and helped me no end with my singing technique.
Hey Flipdog, do you mind if I reblogged this piece of genius?
